Dementia Friendly Training
A key focus for the Dementia Friendly Community Committee is engaging local businesses. Employees at participating establishments will undergo dementia friendly training to help them feel more confident and prepared when interacting with someone who may be living with dementia. Upon completion, these businesses will be formally recognized as Dementia Friendly Establishments and will receive recognition from the Village and a window cling naming them a Dementia Friendly Community Partner. This designation helps foster a more supportive environment throughout Hoffman Estates and encourages broader community participation.
Training Program
The following video was created in collaboration with Certified Dementia and Community Educator Lynne O'Malley to help the business community to feel more confident and prepared when interacting with someone who may be living with dementia. In order to participate local businesses need to:
- Fill out the Dementia Friendly Establishment participation form.
- Have their employees watch the video below.
- Have their employees take the online training video quiz (quiz link sent after registration is complete).
