ComEd FAQs
There are many alternative electricity suppliers that service this area, and residents may select the company that is best for them. Information regarding delivery and supply, tips for finding the best rate, and detail about the Village's Electricity Aggregation Program can be found on the Electricity Aggregation page.
Electricity Aggregation Program
*For questions specific to electric billing or service outages, please contact ComEd at 800-334-7661.*
The Village's most recent aggregation program with Eligo Energy ended in October 2023, and all residents previously using Eligo for electric supply have been transferred back to ComEd. The Village does not have an aggregation program at this time, but will continue to monitor the markets to determine whether savings may be available through aggregation.
To file a complaint against dishonest retail electricity supplier solicitations, contact the ICC's Consumer Services Division complaint line at 800-524-0795. Customers may also file a complaint online.
What is municipal aggregation of electricity?
There are two main components to electricity: supply and distribution.
• The supply of electricity is generated at the power plant; electricity can be supplied by ComEd or many other companies.
• Electricity is then transmitted and distributed to homes and businesses through ComEd's infrastructure and power lines.
• BOTH components appear on a single bill from ComEd.
An electricity aggregation program allows municipalities to pool residential and small commercial retail customers together for the joint purchase of electricity. Communities may be able to leverage the buying power of thousands of residents and small businesses to obtain lower supply rates or other benefits.
The Public Works water division oversees the supply, distribution, and quality assurance of water within the Village, ensuring that the system meets or exceeds all federal and state of Illinois Environmental Protection Agency standards. Water is supplied from Lake Michigan and treated by the city of Chicago, and is delivered to the Village via the Northwest Suburban Joint Action Water Agency System (JAWA) system.
