Solar in Hoffman Estates
The Village of Hoffman Estates is a SolSmart Bronze community. SolSmart is a national designation program that recognizes communities that reduce local barriers to solar energy. Funded by the U.S. Department of Energy SunShot Initiative, SolSmart helps local governments reduce barriers to solar energy in communities to make it simpler for homes and businesses to go solar. Permit Information
Permits are required for the installation and maintenance of photovoltaic (PV) solar systems. Please visit the Village's Building Permits page for more information.

Solar Information Session
On Saturday, April 20, 2024, the Sustainability Commission hosted a solar information session with the Citizens Utility Board (CUB). The presentation provides information on the benefits of solar energy and incentives available to consumers, among other considerations.
