Silver Maple Program
Ongoing Forestry Program to Address Declining Silver Maple, Siberian Elm Trees
The Village is continuing its program to remove and replace certain tree species, including Silver Maple and Siberian Elm. This effort helps reduce risks and follows best practices for long-term tree care.
In 2025, approximately 2,400 trees were inspected, and about 425 were identified for removal in 2026 based on their condition and species. Our goal is to replace each removed tree with a more suitable species to create a healthier, more diverse urban forest over time. In some cases, a replacement tree may not be possible due to utility conflicts or limited space.
Residents will be notified at least two weeks prior if a parkway tree near their residence has been scheduled for removal. View affected trees on the Infrastructure Construction Projects Map (marked with green and red dots) linked below.
