Forestry Programs and Services
Christmas tree drop-off begins after the holiday at three designated locations:
- Public Works Fleet Services Building – 2405 Pembroke Avenue
- Field next to Fire Station 23 – 1300 Westbury Drive
- Field adjacent to Fire Station 24 – 5775 Beacon Pointe Drive
Please remove all lights and decorations before drop-off. Signs will guide residents to the designated areas at each location.
Overgrown bushes, shrubs, and trees can obstruct sidewalks, forcing pedestrians into the parkway or street. If parkway tree branches are blocking a sidewalk, please report the location to the Public Works Department.
Homeowners are responsible for trimming excessive landscape growth near public sidewalks on their property. Trimmings should be properly disposed of through composting or the Village’s yard waste disposal program.
The Forestry Division regularly inspects public trees for disease, decay, or structural concerns. Certified arborists assess tree health and determine if treatment, trimming, or removal is necessary. Residents can request an inspection if they believe a parkway tree is in decline.
Please contact Public Works at 847.490.6800 or publicworks@vohe.org to request a parkway tree inspection.
Residents can dispose of branches and brush through the Village’s seasonal branch drop-off program, located at the Fleet Services Building, 2405 Pembroke Avenue, Hoffman Estates. Drop off hours are 8:00AM to 1:00PM on the following dates:
- Saturday, May 17, 2025
- Saturday, June 7, 2025
- Saturday, July 5, 2025
- Saturday, July 19, 2025
- Saturday, August 2, 2025
- Saturday, August 16, 2025

Items that are accepted for drop off include tree branches, shrub trimmings, and similar brush. Willow tree branches are accepted but should be separated from the larger brush collection (branches should be no larger than 8" in diameter and/or 10' in length).
Items that are not accepted include stumps, root balls, firewood, landscape timbers, lumber, fence posts, grass clippings, leaves, sod, plants, and yard waste.
For trees that grow near ComEd power lines, utility boxes, and utility poles, residents are encouraged to refer to the ComEd Tree Trimming Assistance Program. Information on this program is available at the link below:
