The Village of Hoffman Estates conducts a statistical analysis to assess the safety impact of each automated traffic law enforcement system at an intersection following installation of the system. The statistical analysis is based upon available crash data and covers a 3-year time period before and after installation of the system, which is sufficient to provide a statistically valid comparison of safety impact.

It should be noted that there was a low number of drivers on the road during the presence of COVID (2020-2021) so the number of accidents in this time frame were relatively low. 

All data for this analysis was obtained from a crash records database maintained by the Hoffman Estates Police Department. Only intersection-related crashes were included.

*Other- includes sideswipes, accidents with fixed objects, run-off-road accidents, loss of control, accidents with pedestrians/pedalcyclists, etc.
