The Hoffman Estates Traffic Section was started in 1985 with its main responsibility being traffic law enforcement. Today, the unit consists of 1 Sergeant and 2 full-time officers. The Section has state-certified traffic crash investigators and nationally certified child passenger safety technicians.

The section has expanded its duties to include traffic crash investigations, DUI enforcement, hit-and-run investigations, traffic safety information and education, and child passenger safety.

To promote the safe use of child seats, the Traffic Section provides free child seat inspections and installations. Click here for more information.
