- Schedule an inspection: All inspection requests must be submitted online by 3:00 PM the day prior to the desired inspection date. Inspections are scheduled on a first come first serve basis. Electrical inspection slots are limited. It is highly recommended that electrical inspections get scheduled up to two weeks in advance. You will receive an email with confirmation of your inspection time.

Contractor Licensing & Registration
Contractors are required to be registered on BS&A Online with a Contractor account. All permits should be applied for under this account. Your BS&A Online account is where you will be able to apply for a permit, review permit details, or request an inspection.Existing Accounts - If you already have an account, please contact the Village at buildingpermits@vohe.org to obtain your unique WebPIN. Your account can be connected by navigating to the BS&A home page, selecting "Services" in the top left dropdown, and selecting "Link Contractor Account".
New Accounts - If you do not have a BS&A Online Account, please create one and submit a Contractor Registration Form below with your account username.

The Village aims not to exceed 14 days for each review round.
No permits are required for garage sales. Regulations for garage sales can be found in Chapter 8-7-19 of the Municipal Code.

Most residential / commercial improvement building permits are valid for one year from the date of issuance.
A permit will become invalid if substantial work has not started within six months of issuance or if work is not completed within one year.
Permit extension requests must be submitted in writing to the Building Official and justifiable cause must be demonstrated. Permit extensions can be granted for periods of not more than 180 days each. Fees may apply.

A permit is required for all emergency repair work and must be submitted within 24 hours after the work begins.
The property owner is ultimately responsible for ensuring a permit is obtianed before any work begins.
A Plat of Survey is a private document that can be found in closing papers or documents. If you are unable to find the Plat in your closing documents, you may want to check with the bank that holds your mortgage.
The Village may have a copy of your Plat of Survey from previous building permits within the past five years, however it is not guaranteed to suffice the plat requirement for the permit you are applying for. To find out if the Village has a copy, please submit a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) Request.

The village has a franchise agreement with Groot. All commercial, residential, and construction dumpsters must be from Groot.
