School Visits

A priority of the Hoffman Estates Fire Department is to help the citizen body know how to ensure their own safety in an emergency situation and the safety of their family and community. One way we tackle this priority is by educating the future generations in their educational institutions.

From Kindergarten through high school, our Public Education Officer can visit your school and teach your kids great tips for Fire Safety.

Our Public Education includes, but is not exclusive to:

  • Smoke detectors
  • Carbon Monoxide detectors
  • Escape Plans
  • Fire extinguishers
  • What you can expect when first responders arrive
  • What to do in case of emergencies
  • Lithium Ion Battery Safety
  • ”Close Before You Doze”
  • An open forum Question and Answer for students to get answers to anything they may be unsure about.
If you would like to schedule a Hoffman Estates Firefighter to come speak to your classroom, contact our Public Education officer, Lt. Kurt Lichtenberg, at HEFD.Public@vohe.org.
