Residential Rental Property License
Program Update – January 2026The Village is transitioning to a new online system for managing all Village transactions in January 2026. All new applications, renewal licenses, and fees will be processed in the new system. Rental property owners will receive notice in February 2026 with instructions on how to renew and pay for their 2026 license.
Please note that Residential Rental Property Licenses will now run on an April 1 – March 31 term.
Issued 2025 Residential Rental Property Licenses, originally set to expire on December 31, 2025, have been extended to March 31, 2026, to coincide with the new license term. Program OverviewAll Residential Rental Properties are required to be licensed and inspected annually. Apartment complexes are not included in this program since they are subject to a separate license process. The Village follows the 2021 International Property Maintenance Code (IPMC), with local amendments (Section 11-1-2-F).
Rental Unit with Interior Common Areas: $75 annually
Rental Unit without Common Areas: $150 annually
Reinspection Fees: $50 per each reinspection
