Contractor Registration

Registration is valid for 1 year from the date of issuance. Annual fee for registration is $100 and must be paid at the time the application has been accepted.

All contractors are required to be regstered on the Village's Permitting Portal (BS&A Online).

Submittal Requirements

State Regulated Contractors:
  • Copy of State License
Electrical Contractors:
  • Copy of Electrical License from approved testing agency or VOHE (Building Official Approval required)
  • $10,000 Surety Bond (if principal listed, must be signed)
  • Comprehensive General Liability (Min aggregate of $300,000; One person $100,000 per occurence). Village of Hoffman Estates, 1900 Hassell Road, Hoffman Estates, IL 60169 must be listed as Certificate Holder. 
  • Worker's Compensation (Illinois Statutory Limits must be checked or submit signed Village's Worker's Compensation Affidavit Form attesting to "No Employees"). Village of Hoffman Estates, 1900 Hassell Road, Hoffman Estates, IL 60169 must be listed as Certificate Holder.
All Other Contractors:
  • $10,000 Surety Bond (if principal listed, must be signed)

Design Professionals:
  • No additional documentation is required.
ADDITIONAL COVERAGE REQUIRED FOR ALL EXCAVATION OR ANY WORK IN VILLAGE RIGHT-OF-WAY
  • Proof of Underground (XCU) Liability Insurance
  • Automobile Coverage as listed below: 
    • 1 ton or less - 
      • $250,000 per individual / $500,000 per accident/ $250,000 property damage limits of personal auto coverage; OR $500,000 combined single limit of commercial auto coverage. 
    • Over 1 ton - 
      • $1,000,000 combined single limit of commercial auto coverage. 

By submitting this application, you certify that you have the necessary experience, qualifications and equipment to properly engage in business and shall comply with all applicable regulations of the Village of Hoffman Estates and other Agencies.
