Meet the Police Chief

Chief Kasia Cawley

Chief Kasia Cawley was appointed to the position of Chief of Police in July 2021. At the time of her promotion, she was a 21-year veteran of the Hoffman Estates Police Department. Chief Cawley spent time in each of the department's divisions since joining Hoffman Estates in 1999. She began her career as a patrol officer before moving to the Investigations Division in 2008. She moved steadily through the ranks, receiving promotions to Sergeant in 2013, Section Commander in 2016, Bureau Commander in 2017, and Assistant Chief in 2018.

Chief Cawley graduated from the Northwestern University School of Police and Command in 2018. She holds a Master of Public Safety Administration degree from Lewis University and a Bachelors of Arts and Sciences degree in Sociology from the University of Illinois in Chicago. Chief Cawley also served as a member of the Illinois Air National Guard from 1995-2001, reaching the rank of Staff Sergeant before receiving an honorable discharge.

Chief Cawley is a thoughtful leader, who is open-minded, collaborative, and understands the challenges facing policing in our current environment. Her focus is on fostering positive relationships within the community and mentoring a new generation of officers within the department.
