This past July, Hoffman Estates' very own Lt. Kurt Lichtenburg was among 5 firefighters from around the state who were invited to Springfield as nominees for Firefighter of the Year. Ultimately Lt. Lichtenberg was selected as the Firefighter of the Year for his relentless dedication to public education, as well as his volunteer work and creative use of current fire department programs with the residents of the Village.
