September 11 Remembrance Ceremony

The Hoffman Estates Veterans Memorial Commission invites the community to gather in reflection and unity on the 25th anniversary of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks on New York City, Washington, D.C., and Shanksville, Pennsylvania. The commission’s annual September 11 Remembrance Ceremony, “What Does it Mean to Never Forget?” will honor and remember the nearly 3,000 lives lost as a result of the terrorist attacks.

The ceremony will take place on Friday, Sept. 11, at 11 a.m. at Hoffman Estates Village Hall, 1900 Hassell Road. All are welcome to attend the ceremony, which will provide an especially wonderful learning experience for young adults and youth born after 2001.

This year’s program will feature heartfelt reflections from:

  • Fire Lieutenant Justin Schuenke, Hoffman Estates Fire Department
  • Police Sergeant Bryant Savage, Hoffman Estates Police Department
  • Jackson Lanners, United States Army Veteran, 506/4th OIF/OEF

The ceremony will also include stirring musical performances by The Salvation Army Band Ensemble, North & Central Illinois Division.
