The Hoffman Estates Police Department wants to make the community aware of regulations for solicitors. For someone to solicit door-to-door in the Village of Hoffman Estates, they need to apply for a license and receive a Village-issued solicitor identification card that they are required to show you upon request. For them to be allowed to solicit they must:

• Apply and pay a fee in person at Village Hall.
• Wear their identification card issued by the Village.
• Follow weekday hours of 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
• Follow Saturday hours of 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
• Refrain from solicitation on Sundays* and state/national holidays.
  *Non-Profits can solicit on Sundays from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.
• Avoid soliciting where “No Solicitor” signs are displayed.

Violations of these rules by solicitors are cause for revocation of their licenses. Also know that solicitors should never ask to enter your home. If a solicitor comes to your home and does not have the proper identification or tries to enter your home unwelcomed, call 911 immediately and request for an officer to respond.
