The Hoffman Estates Police Department is excited to announce that registration is open for the 2026 Citizens Police Academy. The academy runs at the Police Department on Wednesday evenings April 8 through June 10 and ends with a graduation ceremony on June 15. 

This revamped 10- week course offers participants a hands-on opportunity to experience what it is like to be a police officer.

The goal of the Citizens Police Academy is to foster trust and communication through education. Students will receive training and instruction from patrol officers, detectives, and other guest speakers to cover a variety of topics such as: 

• Vehicle stops 
• Crime scene investigations
• SWAT operations 
• Virtual reality training
• Gangs/drugs 
• K9 demonstrations 
• and much more!
