Maria Cornejo Garcia, PsyD

Dr. Maria Cornejo Garcia received her Doctoral and Master’s Degrees in Clinical Psychology from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. She also earned a certificate in Integrated Primary Care from Fairleigh Dickinson University. Dr. Cornejo Garcia has served as an adjunct professor for twelve years in the Clinical Psychology Doctoral Program at Wheaton College. She has been in private practice since 2011, where her more recent focus has been on therapy, consulting, research, coaching, and mentoring. Dr. Cornejo Garcia has extensive experience working with Latino/a/x/e, Spanish-speaking communities in the Chicago and Chicagoland area. Her clinical interests include multicultural competence, cultural humility, immigration and mental health, multi-generational issues, parent-child relational issues, compassion fatigue and burnout, and family systems. She is passionate about teaching, training, and mentoring future generations of mental health professionals. Dr. Cornejo Garcia is a staff therapist at Health and Human Services. She co-facilitates psychotherapy seminar, provides supervision to practicum students, and engages in other aspects of the training program.
