Hispanic Heritage Day Fiesta
The Village’s Cultural Awareness Commission is proud to celebrate the community’s diversity by hosting the Annual Hispanic Heritage Day Fiesta on Saturday, Oct. 11, from 2 to 4:30 p.m. at Village Hall, 1900 Hassell Road.
Enjoy an afternoon of the sights and sounds of the Hispanic culture featuring dance groups representing Latin American countries, a sampling of Hispanic cuisine, and a presentation by Dr. Rafael Núñez-Cedeño, Professor of Hispanic and Italian Studies from University of Illinois at Chicago. And, of course, a piñata for the kids!
In partnership with the Chi Alpha Omega Chapter serving Hoffman Estates, the Village of Hoffman Estates Cultural Awareness Commission would like to encourage those who attend this event to participate in the Childhood Hunger Initiative Power Packs (CHIPP) program.
Childhood Hunger Initiative Power Packs (CHIPP)
The Need
We have learned that over 22 million children nationwide rely on schools for their meals. Locally, in the northwest suburbs, school districts D54, SD U-46, TWP 211, and CCSD 19 collectively include 29,255 low-income students who could benefit from this program. By providing proper funding and support, we aim to fulfill this need by delivering backpacks filled with meals twice a month and extra snacks during the holidays.
We focus on providing nutritious, child-friendly items that are easy to access, such as pop-top cans and foods requiring no additional ingredients.
