Special Event Permit ApplicationA Special Event Permit is needed for:

All outdoor events held on Village Property and/or deemed to significantly impact Village operations

Events that require street closures
-
Events that require closure of Village parking lots and/or the use of Village owned property
-
Any outdoor event that will be open to the general public
Applicatons must be submitted in person to the Village Manager's office at Village Hall. Applications shall be submitted a minimum of 8 weeks prior to the event start date.

Additional Permits, Licenses or Inspections?
If your event includes tents, inflatable structures, electrical (generators, etc), you are required to submit a building permit. Please visit the Village's Building Permit & Inspections portal.
If your event includes vendors, you are required to contact the Village Clerk's office for licensing requirements.
Failure to obtain proper permits and licenses may result in a revocation of the Special Events Permit.

Block parties on public property must be concluded by 10 pm. No alcoholic beverages may be dispensed on public property, including streets, parkways, and sidewalk areas, and also no athletic or climbing devices may be placed on the Village's right of way. Fire and Police Department personnel are available upon request for public education opportunities.

Events on Park District property
Groups who would like to reserve public parks should contact the Hoffman Estates Park District for more information.
Barricades
Applicants for Special Events and Block Parties may arrange for the use of barricades if needed. These should be set in a manner that will allow emergency vehicles to enter and exit the area. Please contact Public Works at publicworks@vohe.org or by calling (847) 490-6800.
Barricades will be available for pick up at the Public Works Building, located at 2305 Pembroke Avenue.
Emergency and Medical Service Vehicle Access
Access in and out of the event must be maintained for all Emergency and Medical Service Vehicles.
Alcohol
No alcoholic beverages may be dispensed on public property, including streets, parkways, and sidewalk areas.
Health Guidance
All events must align with any and all current health guidance from the State of Illinois. All events shall be conducted in accordance with the Village Code and Special Events Policy of the Village of Hoffman Estates.
Firearm Concealed Carry Prohibited
As per state statue 430 ILCS 66/65, no individual is allowed to conceal carry at special events or public gatherings conducted on property open to the public and requires the issuance of a permit from a unit of local governement. All qualifying events are required to post the below no concealed carry sign at all entrances and exits.
