Pace to Resume Fare Collection for All Riders
Effective 12:01 a.m. on Monday, June 22, all riders will be required to pay fares on all Pace bus routes, On Demand services, Dial-a-Rides, and ADA Paratransit services. To support efforts to continue to schedule single-passenger ADA Paratransit trips as ridership allows, Pace will waive fares on City of Chicago Taxi Access Program (TAP) trips until further notice. Rear-door boarding on bus routes will no longer be permitted. All service suspensions remain in effect. Pace will monitor demand and be prepared to reintroduce services as resources allow and people return to work and regular activities. Pace Park-n-Ride & I-90 Bus Service
Pace express bus operations serving the Barrington Road / I-90 Station (supported by the Park-n-Ride / Kiss-n-Ride) provide non-stop connections to the Rosemont River Road CTA station to the east as well as the Northwest Transportation Center in Schaumburg. From the Rosemont CTA Station, riders are able to transfer to the CTA for trips towards downtown Chicago or to O'Hare Airport. To the west, these express routes link to the Randall Road Park-n-Ride and the downtown Elgin Transportation Center.
A Park-n-Ride lot on the north side of the Tollway, just east of Barrington Road, provides free parking for Pace riders. Pedestrian ways under the Tollway ramps, along with a pedestrian overpass of I-90, offer access to the I-90 bus station. From there, express buses on Routes 603, 605, and 610 travel to and from the CTA Blue Line station in Rosemont for connections to O’Hare and downtown via the CTA. Another, Route 607, connects to the Northwest Transportation Center in Schaumburg. To the west, these routes travel to the Elgin Transportation Center (Route 603), Randall Road Park-n-Ride (Routes 605, 607), and Prairie Stone Business Park (Route 610). Details on schedules and route maps can be found on Pace's website by entering a number in the Route Finder box on the left side of the page.
Pace''s construction of the Kiss-n-Ride drop-off / pick-up area on the south side of the Tollway, on Pembroke Avenue, is nearly complete, needing lighting installation and some other finishing work. Pace installed temporary bus stops on Pembroke Avenue where a path leads to the pedestrian overpass building on I-90 and the boarding platforms. When Pace completes the Kiss-n-Ride, these temporary stops will be removed.
An exhibit showing the transit facilities, along with pedestrian and bicycle connections built with the Barrington Road full interchange project, can be found at the link below:
