A Zoning Verification Letter is a signed document which verifies the current zoning of a property. The letter acknowledges that a use, structure, building or lot either complies with or is legally nonconforming to the provisions of the zoning code.
Requests can be made via mail or email to the Planning Division – Planning@Hoffmanestates.org.
Below are the requirements to request a Zoning Verification Letter –
- $100.00 fee per parcel prior to the research for the letter is required per Village ordinance. Payment can be made by mailing a check payable to the Village of Hoffman Estates or over the phone by calling the Planning Division at 847-781-2660 (Please note: a 2.38% processing fee will be added to credit and debit card payments made over the phone).
- Requester should include a copy of the draft letter along with information sought. Include any or all questions needed to be addressed in the letter.
- Upon completion, the Village will place the letter on Village letterhead, and return a signed PDF copy of the letter to the requester.
All Zoning Verification Letter requests are processed within seven (7) business days.
Please note the zoning verification letter is not intended to provide any outstanding building and/or fire code violations, copies of certificates or occupancy or other documents. Such requests should be made separately via the Village’s Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) Request online by clicking here or in person at the Hoffman Estates Municipal Center at 1900 Hassell Road, Hoffman Estates, IL 60169.
