The Village of Hoffman Estates has free wood chips to resident use. Please note, wood chips are not mulch, wood chips are large chips trimmed from local tree branches.
Wood chips are available Monday-Friday after 3:00 pm at the Fleet Services building (2405 Pembroke Ave.) and on weekends. Large quanities of wood chips (4 and 8 cubic yards) may be requested for delivery. This service is only available to Hoffman Estates residents. A half load of 4 cubic yards will produce a wood chip pile approximately 9 feet by 8 feet by 18 inches deep. A full load of 8 cubic yards will produce a wood chip pile approximately 9 feet by 8 feet by 36 inches deep.
To schedule a delivery, please contact Public Works during normal business hours and provide the following information: amount of wood chips desired (full or half load) and indicate the side of apron you would like the woodchips placed (facing the home). Wood chips are not returnable and delivery cannot be scheduled for a specific date or time.
A backflow prevention device prevents water from reversing flow from the resident's premises to the public supply water main. All newly constructed residential homes and properties with underground sprinkler systems have been required to install backflow devices; some older homes may have backflow devices installed as well. Visit the Cross Connection Control (Backflow) page for more information.
Homeowners are responsible for the proper care and maintenance of their sewer service line beginning at the house and up to where it connects with the Village sewer main. Should a sewer blockage occur, contact the Public Works Department at (847) 490-6800, a customer service representative will come to your home and determine the location of the problem. If the problem is a blockage in the Village main line, a Village crew will be dispatched to clear the obstruction. If not, you will be advised to call a Village licensed plumber to rod (clear) your homes sanitary sewer service line.
