Victim Advocacy

If you’ve experienced or been affected by domestic violence, violent crime, elder abuse, or a personal crisis such as homelessness or food insecurity, our social workers are here to help. They can provide a safe and confidential space to discuss your situation and connect you with assistance for housing, food, legal protections and help with applications for certain programs. Whether you’re seeking support for yourself or someone you care about, our social workers can guide you through resources, assist with paperwork, and access the support you need.

CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) of Cook County provides trained volunteers to advocate for children in the foster care system who have experienced abuse or neglect. These advocates ensure each child’s voice is heard in court and help secure safe, permanent homes. CASA is a vital resource for children navigating the child welfare system due to trauma or unsafe living situations.

If you are experiencing a crisis- such as homelessness, loss of income, or lack of food or clothing – you may qualify for help through the Illinois Department of Human Services (IDHS) Crisis Assistance Program. Emergency shelter may be available in Cook County, and individuals or families with little or no income may also qualify for Expedited SNAP (food) benefits, which can be issued within five days of applying. Our social workers can help determine if you qualify and assist you in completing the required paperwork.

The Illinois Office of the Attorney General Illinois Crime Victim Compensation Program helps victims of violent crime and their families recover costs related to the crime, such as medical bills, counseling, funeral expenses, lost income, or relocation. You may qualify if you were injured in a violent crime, witnessed a traumatic event, or lost a loved one due to violence. Our social workers can help you determine your eligibility, assist with paperwork and guide you through the application process.
