Updated: Water meter program delayed
UPDATE AS OF MAY 1, 2020: Due to impacts from the coronavirus, the water meter replacement program will be delayed until further notice. Please follow the Village on social media and keep an eye our website and the Citizen newsletter for updates. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.
The Village of Hoffman Estates will soon begin the process of installing new water meters in all residential, industrial, and commercial buildings. The Village has partnered with Siemens Industry, Inc., and Professional Meters, Inc. ("PMI") to complete this project. The new meters will also allow the Village to implement an automated meter reading process that will provide better customer service, greater data accuracy, and reduced operational costs.
Please note that Siemens will not be going door-to-door. All water meter appointments will be scheduled in advance, and Siemens/PMI employees will be carrying employee identification and driving Siemens/PMI marked vehicles. Residents are encouraged to call 9-1-1 to report any person who approaches your home without an appointment and Siemens/PMI identification.
All water customers will be receiving mailings with details about the meter replacement project. A letter announcing the project was sent in late January 2020. Siemens will be working their way through the Village area-by-area over the course of the coming months. When you receive a postcard indicating that Siemens is moving into your neighborhood, please call Siemens' dedicated hotline at the number on the postcard to schedule your appointment.

Of the 16,000 residential water meters in Hoffman Estates, please note that there are a very small number of meters (a few hundred) that are located within pits in the front yards of homes. These homes are largely located in Parcel A and Parcel B. These properties will still receive postcards regarding the meter change out, and will still need an appointment with the installer, since the water will need to be shut off for a short period of time during the change out. However, access within the home will not be required.
