Police to participate in “Cop on Top” fundraiser for Special Olympics

Post Date:05/18/2017 9:26 AM

On Friday, May 19, members of the Hoffman Estates Police Department will be participating in the 15th annual Cop on a Rooftop fundraiser event to support Special Olympics from 5 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The event will take place at Dunkin’ Donuts stores across the state, with two Hoffman Estates locations planned: 1165 N. Barrington Road and 2089 Barrington Road. Officers hope to top last year’s state-wide donation total of $672,000 as they head to 274 Dunkin’ Donuts rooftops to raise awareness and donations for the Law Enforcement Torch Run to benefit Special Olympics Illinois.

Over the past 15 years, the Cop on a Rooftop event has raised nearly $2.3 million to support the Illinois Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Illinois. Special Olympics Illinois provides athletic and support opportunities for more than 22,500 athletes with intellectual disabilities and more than 20,000 young athletes ages 2-7 with and without intellectual disabilities.
