Memorial Day observance; Village services impacted

The Village of Hoffman Estates invites residents and veterans of the Armed Services to attend this year’s Memorial Day observance, Monday, May 29 at 10 a.m. The event is being held jointly with the Village of Schaumburg.

The observation will begin with a brief ceremony at the Hoffman Estates Veterans’ Memorial, followed by a 10:45 a.m. observance at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Schaumburg. Immediately following the Schaumburg event, there will be a picnic for all guests in the St. Peter picnic grove. Hoffman Estates Mayor William McLeod, Schaumburg Mayor Al Larson, police, fire, and local veterans will be present to help pay tribute.

The Hoffman Estates Veterans’ Memorial is located outside the Police Department, at 411 W. Higgins Road. St. Peter Lutheran Church is located at 202 E. Schaumburg Road, Schaumburg.

In observance of the Memorial Day holiday, Village Hall will be closed Saturday, May 27 and Monday, May 29. The following Village services will also be impacted:

Garbage collection delayed

Garbage, recycling and yard waste collection will be delayed one day in observance of the holiday. Monday collection will be on Tuesday, May 30, and Wednesday collection will be Thursday, June 1.

Electronics recycling postponed

The Solid Waste Agency of Northern Cook County (SWANCC) will not hold its Electronics Recycling Drop-off at Village Hall on Monday, May 29; the service will resume on Monday, June 5.
