Black History Day Celebration Event - 2/5/2018
Get moving at the sports and fitness festival!
Skate, run or walk, the 2016 Fitness For America Sports Festival (FFASF) has something for you! The Festival will be held in Hoffman Estates on Saturday, July 23. The eighth annual FFASF, hosted by the Village of Hoffman Estates in partnership with the Hoffman Estates Park District and sponsored by AMITA Health, will be full of surprises, along with inline skating and running events for all fitness levels and several other features, including a GLO Run after dark. The Festival is organized under the direction of All Community Events, www.allcommunityevents.com.
On the morning of Saturday, July 23, the Chicagoland Inline Marathon (the second largest in the country) takes the course for a half marathon and 7k. The Chicagoland Inline Marathon features two stages of action between the fastest skaters in the nation battling it out for a big cash purse.
Runners can opt for a 5k, 10k, or half marathon, choosing the challenge that matches their fitness level. Walkers are welcome at the 5k. Cash prizes from a $10,000 purse will be paid for top three finishers in 12 groups by age level, from ages 14 & under to over 65, including increased cash prizes for half marathon top five runners.
All distances offer scenic USA Track & Field (USATF)-certified courses that travel through north Hoffman Estates, the Paul Douglas Forest Preserve and the AT&T complex on roads and paved trails.
On Saturday night, participants of all ages and abilities can go for a Glo-Run! This non-timed, recreational, 80s-themed run/walk for the whole family kicks off at 9:15 p.m. and ends with a DJ dance party. Six on-course 80s-themed zones will accompany a lot of neon glo and new wave jams.
Participants do not have to be a professional to enjoy the festival. Volunteers and cheering spectators are needed throughout the weekend. Send an email to email@example.com if you are interested in volunteering. To register as an individual or register a team, visit www.allcommunityevents.com.
