Electricity supply costs reduced by 11.4 percent

Post Date:05/17/2016 1:02 PM

Hoffman Estates has signed a new 12-month electricity supply agreement with Dynegy Energy. The new rate is a stable, fixed rate of 6.177¢ per kWh for the term August 2016 to August 2017. This new agreement represents an 11.4 percent decrease from the Village's current rate, and includes 50 percent renewable energy credits for all power consumed, which will significantly reduce C02 emissions. Since the Electricity Aggregation Program began in 2012, participants have saved an average of $227, with a cumulative Village-wide savings over $3 million. More importantly, C02 emissions have been reduced by 115,075 tons as a result of providing renewable energy through the program.

The opt-out notices for this renewed Electricity Aggregation Program will be mailed by Dynegy on June 3 to eligible residential and small business customers. Those who did not opt out and continued in the program will begin the new, lower 6.177¢ per kWh rate effective with the August 2016 meter reading. As with prior agreements, there is no enrollment fee, and no early termination fee. If you wish to leave the Electricity Aggregation Program at any time during the new term, simply call Dynegy customer service at 844-351-7691.

Informative opt-in notices were also mailed to ratepayers currently enrolled with a supplier other than the Village's current supplier. These ratepayers were not enrolled automatically. However, these ratepayers can still enroll in the Village's program by calling Dynegy at 844-351-7691.

Residents will continue to receive one bill from ComEd that includes the electricity supply charges from Dynegy. ComEd will continue to charge for delivery. The way you pay your bill, such as budget billing or automatic payment, will not be affected.

If you have questions about your new electricity account, call Dynegy directly at 844-351-7691.
