Newspapers covering Hoffman Estates:

Northwest Celtic Fest fun in store for all

Post Date:03/15/2016 11:23 AM
On Saturday, March 19, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., the fifth annual Northwest Celtic Fest will take place at the Sears Centre Arena. The celebration of Celtic heritage includes live music and entertainment, Celtic cuisine and marketplace, free games for children, and a Scotch and beer tasting. Event parking and entry are also free of charge, making this an affordable event for the whole family.

During Celtic Fest, the Village invites guests to enjoy a full day of games (including miniature golf), music, crafts, food, and laughter. The concourse stage hosts live music and several groups of the area’s most talented Scottish and Irish dancers. This community event is designed to celebrate Celtic heritage, and everyone is invited to attend.

“The Fest activities will appeal to a wide range of people. Even residents who are not Celtic will enjoy the food, music, games and marketplace,” said Mayor William D. McLeod. McLeod is of both Irish and Scottish descent, and is excited to bring Celtic Fest back to the community for a fifth year.

Celtic Fest, sponsored by SRI Technologies and Heidner Property Management, will showcase some of the best live Celtic entertainment in the Chicagoland area. The Academy of Irish Music, Baal Tinne, Dust Bunnies, Mulligan Stew, Hope Rose, Rebecca McCarthy School of Irish Dance, Thistle and Heather Irish Dance, Trinity Academy of Irish Dance, and the Chicago Scots Pipe Band will perform. The Fest will also offer herding demonstrations by Magic’s Legacy, Rugby demonstrations, as well as meet and greets with Birds of Prey and friendly Irish Wolfhounds.

The Sears Centre Arena is located at 5333 Prairie Stone Parkway in the “Poplar Creek at 59/90” Entertainment District in western Hoffman Estates. For a complete schedule of events and the latest festival updates, visit www.hoffmanestates.org/celtic, or call 847-781-2606.
