Fitness for America Sports Fest Returns July 25-26
The 2015 Fitness For America Sports Festival (FFASF) will be held in Hoffman Estates on Saturday, July 25 and Sunday, July 26. The seventh annual FFASF now sponsored by AMITA Health (formerly Alexian Brothers Health System), will be full of surprises, along with inline skating and running events for all fitness levels and several new features, including a GLO Run after dark.
On Saturday, July 25, there will be a Sunset Half Marathon run with cash prizes for every age level, a 10K run and a 5K run/walk. All distances offer scenic USA Track & Field (USATF)-certified courses that travel through north Hoffman Estates, the Paul Douglas Forest Preserve and the AT&T complex on roads and paved trails.
On Saturday night, participants of all ages and abilities can go for a GLO-Run! This non-timed, recreational, safari-themed run/walk for the whole family kicks off at 9:15 p.m. and ends with a DJ dance party.
On Sunday, July 26, the Chicagoland Inline Marathon (the second largest in the country) takes the course along with a half marathon and a 10K. Racers can choose the challenge that matches their fitness level. The Chicagoland Inline Marathon features two stages of action between the fastest skaters in the nation battling it out for a big cash purse.
Participants do not have to be a professional to enjoy the festival and can become part of the excitement as a volunteer, cheering spectator or fundraiser for Team Run for HD, a charity focused on supporting those effected by Huntington’s disease. Volunteers are needed throughout the weekend. Send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org if you are interested in volunteering.
