Newspapers covering Hoffman Estates:

New Police Chief Swearing In on Monday, Feb. 16

Post Date:02/16/2015 2:58 PM

Ted Bos, a 30-year veteran of the Hoffman Estates Police Department, will be officially sworn in as Hoffman Estates’ new police chief at the Village Board Meeting today, February 16th, at 7 p.m.. Michael Hish, the previous police chief, retired in September 2014.

“I am honored by the appointment to the position of Chief of Police by the Village of Hoffman Estates. I am enthusiastic about leading a great team of people and will continue to bring the best police services to the community.” said Bos.

After Hish’s departure, Bos, then assistant chief, was named acting police chief by Village Manager James H. Norris.

Norris said, “Ted’s 30 years of experience with the Hoffman Estates Police Department when combined with his strong leadership skills and his personal commitment to public service makes him the best choice to lead our Police Department into the future.”

Ted grew up in Chicago, and always wanted to become a police officer. He first became a police officer with the Village of Hoffman Estates in January 1985. He was promoted to sergeant in 1997, and served as a supervisor in the patrol, tactical, and investigations divisions. Bos was promoted to lieutenant in 2002, and he was assigned as the Investigations Division Commander from 2003 to 2011. He was promoted to assistant chief in 2011 and has been designated as the acting police chief since Chief Hish’s retirement.

Mayor William D. McLeod said, “Ted has been a critical member of the Hoffman Estates Police Department for three decades, serving many of those years in positions that require strong leadership skills and capabilities.  He has been a valuable asset to the Village and we look forward to working with him in his new position as police chief.

As a result of Bos’ appointment, there will be three other promotions within the department. These will also take place at the Board Meeting on Monday night. They include:

• Gregory Poulos appointed to assistant chief

• Mike Raucci promoted to lieutenant

• Brian Petersen promoted to sergeant

Please join us in congratulating Ted, Greg, Mike and Brian on their appointments and promotions.
