Send a letter to Santa to help Shop with a Cop program
Thanks to the generous support of local businesses in Poplar-Prairie Stone Crossing shopping center (Rt. 59 & Rt. 90), several weeks of special activities will be promoting the Hoffman Estates ‘Shop with a Cop’ program. This year, the Hoffman Estates Police Charitable Foundation (HEPCF) will be sponsoring its 15th annual “Shop with a Cop” holiday event on December 13. The HEPCF is a not-for-profit organization made up of sworn officers from the Hoffman Estates Police Department, and is committed to giving back to disadvantaged families in the Village.
Beginning this Friday, November 28, the entire community can support this worthy cause by dropping a letter to Santa in special mailboxes posted at Carter’s, Michael’s, Target, Petsmart, and Sports Authority, at Poplar-Prairie Stone Crossing shopping center, at the 59/90 Entertainment District at Higgins Road and Route 59. From Black Friday through December 12, for every letter collected, $1 will be donated to the Hoffman Estates’ Shop with a Cop program.
On December 1, a search for Buddy the Elf will kick off at Poplar-Prairie Crossing. Residents can track the elf’s location on the Village of Hoffman Estates Facebook and Twitter pages using #ShopHE, #ShopHoffmanEstates and #Wheresbuddy. Starting December 12, followers will have a chance to win gift cards at local retailers if they guess which store the elf is found. Official rules are listed on www.poplarprairie.com.
Please send any donations to support this worthwhile event to: HEPCF, P.O. Box 95611, Hoffman Estates, IL 60169-0611. For more information, contact Lt. Carl Baumert by phone at 847-781-2807.
