Platzkonzert features 5K & free concerts; call for volunteers
The Village of Hoffman Estates is proud to host its fifth annual Platzkonzert Germanfest, presented by Audi of Hoffman Estates. The free family-friendly party, held September 12 and 13, is an open air celebration complete with authentic German food, beer and wine, entertainment, activities and free parking. New to the event on Saturday morning, is a 5K run/walk through the scenic Prairie Stone Business Park.
The festival starts at 4 p.m. on Friday, September 12, with food, drink, and 5K packet pick-up. A free concert featuring Centerfold starts at 6 p.m. at the Village Green. Centerfold is a premier Chicagoland band that plays everything from the latest and greatest hits from Pink and Carrie Underwood to classic rock favorites from Journey, Tom Petty, Pat Benatar and Bon Jovi. Centerfold will play an encore Platzkonzert show on Saturday night from 7-10 p.m. Performers taking the Oompah and amphitheater stages earlier on Saturday include the Tenors 3, The Johnny Wagner Band, Walter Flechsig and the Hott Production Dancers.
Platzkonzert Germanfest pays tribute to the Village’s roots with live German music, authentic food, Hofbräu beer, and traditional German competitions. The fun on Saturday begins with the 5K run/walk at 8 a.m. followed by a continental breakfast at 9 a.m. Games, a climbing wall, inflatables, and painting will be available for children. Adults can participate in the traditional hot dog eating speed contest, stein carrying, and Mr. Lederhosen “best legs” contests to win prizes donated by local businesses. For a complete list of activities and times, visit www.platzkonzertgermanfest.com.
To provide an outstanding event, the Village is looking for volunteers to help on Friday, September 12 and Saturday, September 13. All volunteers will receive a free t-shirt to be worn at the event and kept as a souvenir. To volunteer for a shift, visit www.platzkonzertgermanfest.com/volunteer.
