Village receives award for outstanding budget
The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) has recognized the Village of Hoffman Estates for the GOFA’s Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for its 2013 budget.
The award represents a significant achievement by the Village, reflecting a commitment to meeting the highest principles of government budgeting. In order to receive the award, the Village had to satisfy nationally recognized guidelines for effective budget presentation. These guidelines are designed to assess how well a municipal budget serves as a policy document, financial plan, operations guide, and a communications device. Budget documents must be “proficient” in all four categories and the fourteen mandatory criteria within the categories, to receive the award.
This is the sixth year in a row that the Village of Hoffman Estates has received the GFOA Distinguished Budget Presentation Award. Among the GFOA’s 18,000 members, over 1,400 participants received the award for the 2013 budget year, providing an excellent example for other governments throughout North America.
The Government Finance Officers Association is a nonprofit professional association serving finance professionals. The GFOA’s Distinguished Budget Presentation Award is the only national awards program in governmental budgeting.
The Village budget is located on the Finance Department Financial Documents page.
